I’ve gone out with the Stones over the summer, I’ve got my artwork to do, I’m up to my neck in projects! But you never know. We were thinking of getting a test show together, and if something comes of it, then we might come to America.

Mick Jagger talks about the tour on a pre-taped radio interview.

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (March 2015): Back in the U.S.A.

Mick: We are excited to be back in North America playing stadiums this summer!  We are looking forward to being back onstage and playing your favorite songs.

Keith: We love being out on the road and it is great to come back to North America!  I can’t wait to get back on the stage!

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (March 2015): The Zip Code Tour

Mick: We were re-releasing Sticky Fingers, so were playing around with titles with 'zips' on. And then I thought: each stadium has a zip code. Instead of it being quite on the nose with Sticky Fingers, it was a reference to it, to the actual place we're playing. And numbers are always interesting.Keith:any of these places are places we haven't been for a very long time."

Keith: You'll notice there's no New Yorks or LAs or Chicagos. We wanted to play the heartland.

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (March & August 2015): Mick Taylor gets off the bus

Mick: He's not going to play on this tour. It's just going to be us. We had a great time with him, I really enjoyed it. And we did a load of gigs, we went all around the world. And, you know, we started off in London, it was just going to be one show in London, and we went all around the world together. But this is like the beginning of another tour, so I don't think he's coming on this.

Keith: I wanted to see if it would blossom into something else, like a three-guitar band. I realised that was just a hope, an idea. The Stones are a two-guitar band, and I know that, really. But Midnight Rambler over the last year or so has been amazing. He's a lot looser than he was the first time around.

Mick Jagger & producer Don Was (March-April 2015): The Sticky Fingers re-issue

Mick: I think it was planned years ago when we had a release schedule. The record company put together this sequence of release that we're doing, so that's fine... I looked very hard, but I didn't find any (unreleased songs)... (I)n the Exile period, we used quite a few tracks that were recorded in the Sticky Fingers sessions. When we re-released Exile on Main Street, we found others that were not released and we put them on the new package, which was a bit stupid, really. I should've really kept some back, but I didn't really think about it at the time. There was nothing that was unreleased left, unfortunately. I think that's really the truth of the story.

Don Was:  Unlike the other two that we worked on, Exile on Main Street and Some Girls, the actual outtake stockpile for Sticky Fingers is pretty much depleted. The stuff that didn't go on Sticky Fingers went on Exile on Main Street... There just wasn't enough stuff that no one had heard before.

The thing that will make this one different is the alternate takes, like Brown Sugar with Eric Clapton and the acoustic Wild Horses. But they're all just diffferent versions of songs. The bonus disc is rounded out with some live performances. It's a little different from Exile and Some Girls in that we didn't go back and try to finish anything.

April 2, 2015: Mick Jagger calls in from the West Indies on Marc Maron's WTF podcast to
promote the tour and album reissue.

Mick Jagger (March-April 2015): Tour fitness preparation

I just up the whole fitness thing, and I do have a trainer that I've had for years. I'm always working out. I don't really stop between tours, but then I do have to take it up to another level about three months before one begins. You have to prepare for what you're going to do. You don't prepare for running a marathon. You do start and stop stuff. You train for the quick burst. It's really hard to do the singing at the same time. I'll be doing cross-training and my trainer is going, Try and sing during this! That's not really possible in a gym in front of other people (laughs).

I have to do, you know, dance work outs and prep for my dance and prep for the vocals. You're pushing yourself to a limit, but a containable limit because you don't want to screw up and you don't want to get injured, so you try to get as fit as possible... Yeah, I listen to (electronic dance music). And trap and stuff. I put everything on. When I do the dance workouts, I just do a mixture of everything.

Mick Jagger (March-April 2015): Getting sticky on the Zip Tour

We're floating the idea of playing the whole album. At the very least, we'll play the songs we don't normally play. It's a really great album. But it has a lot of slow songs. Normally in a show we'd just do one or two ballads. Sticky Fingers has about five slow songs. I'm just worried that it might be problematic in stadiums. Maybe we'd play it and everyone would say, Great, but maybe they'll get restless and start going to get drinks.

We play a lot of the tunes and know them pretty well. I think we've played them all at least once. It's not like trying to do Their Satanic Majesties Request.

We’ll make a bit of a mixture. We’ll play, like, well-known songs, we always try and find a song we’ve never done before, a couple of songs we’ve never done, we might feature a few songs from Sticky Fingers, the more unusual ones, maybe a couple of others... (W)e haven't played (Sister Morphine and Moonlight Mile) for a bit. I think that's a good idea, and we definitely will feature those.

It’ll be a mixed-bag. Hopefully, it won’t just be by-the-numbers, you know?

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (March 2015): The Rolling Stones' new touring philosophy

Mick: (W)e do less shows. It's still the same in that we go around the world and then start again (laughs). We ended in Australia in December (sic) and then we're back where we started. The 50th anniversary tour started in England. But now we did the whole shebang and we're starting again. I've really worked out the philosophy for it. People seem to be enjoying touring every year.

Keith: I think everybody's really been enjoying the last few years on the road. The last break was really long; about five years. I think everybody really missed it because we came back energized.

Keith Richards & Mick Jagger (March & May 2015): Bobby Keys in spirit

Keith: Man, he'll certainly be missed, especially backstage. He was a good, good friend of mine. But he would be the first to say, The show must go on.

Mick:
He's going to be really missed. It's the first time we're touring in America without him. It'll be sad not to have him there, but he'll be with us there. We're thinking of him.

April 6, 2015: Keith Richards phones in to Marc Maron's WTF podcast from his home in
        Connecticut.

Keith Richards (March 2015): The solo album release

I think that's coming out in September... (It's j)ust done, yeah. We're looking for the right time slot to bring it out. The Stones have been working so much lately that I've been holding off until we could find a reasonable time. I think it's September, but I don't know for sure.

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (March-April 2015): Up and down the stadium runway

Mick: I enjoy playing stadiums in a way, and I had a good time last summer playing them in Europe...Yeah, (it's) a little bit (more demanding physically) (laughs). Well, you could make it a smaller stage. It's my own fault, really, if it's big. It is quite large, maybe 150 feet wide and then the runway is quite large, too.

I pretty much go through the design and run through different options. It's a video-based stage with lots of screens, so it's important what goes on them... Then there's the other variable of the width of the stadium. A baseball stadium, for instance, is normally much wider than a football stadium. Each one is a bit different, so I have to look at all those as well and say which is which. Stadiums really aren't uniform like arenas, which tend to all be the same. With stadiums, you have to tailor the stage design each night.

Every night the audience is like a challenge for me. Every time you go out there it's different. You think it's the same show, but it's a different show, different place, different audience.

Keith: Stadiums, I love them, especially when the weather's on our side, when God joins the band. It's really nice to play indoors and auditoriums with a controlled environment, but at the same time, it's a different feeling playing outside, especially stadiums... It's a looser feeling.

Mick Jagger (March-April 2015): More touring on the horizon?

Mick: It's the beginning of another (tour). As I said, when we finished Australia we'd done everything. We did England, North America…We haven't done South America for a bit. We were going to do it, but it's kind of difficult to put together. We did Europe, Asia and then we're about to do North America again.

(A)fter the U.S. tour, there's nothing booked. But there are plans for what we'll do in the autumn for gigs, maybe. I don't know about the early autumn, but in the late autumn there's a lot of talk. I haven't booked it yet, but…

Keith: I hear South America is on the cards somewhere around October, November, so we ain't stopping yet.

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (March-April 2015): A new Rolling Stones album?

Mick: I don't know. It would be very nice and I've got a lot of new songs and songs I've written over the last couple of years. I've done really good demos for all of them, which I would love to record. So, let's hope so... I haven't (thought about making a solo album).  I'd love to record a Stones album. If that doesn't happen, then yes. That's a truthful answer. I've got songs that would be great for the Stones, and I've got songs that wouldn't be perfect for the Stones...

I've been writing this week. I've written a lot of new songs lately, but we haven't recorded them yet. (They're about)just life in general, different subjects, personal things, social things.

Keith: We're talking about doing some recording after this tour, but there's nothing definite. We just threw out the idea. I'd like to get the boys back in the studio again, yeah. Anything can happen.

Stones. From London, England, Mick Jagger tweets a humorous video of his vocal exercises,
        with a dog.

Ron Wood (April 2015): 40 years with The Rolling Stones

Sometimes I feel that my whole career with The Birds, Jeff Beck and The Faces was one long audition to join The Rolling Stones. I still think of myself as a fan as much as a band member. When I first heard their stirring music coming from the tent at the Richmond Jazz And Blues festival in 1963 something happened inside me and I knew that was the band I wanted to be in. The thought of being in the Stones is what gave me the drive to carry on.

Mick Jagger (May 2015): On the road... again

I never really th(ink) about (why we go on the road) that much. It's fun to do, to get up onstage. It's a good workout and great fun to be onstage and entertain people. Some of the time, there is a lot of down time, and that's a bit dull, but we make the best of it. It's fun going around the country, seeing a lot of the places and people you haven't seen in a while..

May 5, 2015: Ron Wood and Charlie Watts arrive in Los Angeles from London, England. The
charity single Save The Children is released, for the Nepal disaster victims, by the Save The
Children Choir, which includes Mick Jagger and Ron Wood.

May 8-16, 2015: The Rolling Stones start tour rehearsals at Third Encore Annex Studios in Los
    Angeles, California.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Starting rehearsals

The first few days of rehearsals, I do have to do a bit of thinking. By the time you get onstage you don't want to be like, Satisfaction - what key is that in again? Sometimes you have a complete blank. So you have to go back to basics. What's interesting is how quickly everyone folds back into it.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Rehearsing as physical exercise

Actually, when you work with the Stones - which I love to do - rehearsing for 8 or 9 hours a day, standing up and moving around, I find that enough. I'd rather do that than go crazy on treadmills. Mick does all that stuff, but his dad was a physical education instructor... I find that by the time I finish rehearals, I haven't just been rehearsing the music, my body has been rehearsing too.

May 8, 2015: Following the Rolling Stones' rehearsal, Ron Wood catches Lisa Fischer perform

May 17, 2015: Mick Jagger goes shopping with his daughter Karis and his grandchildren at
Barneys New York in Beverly Hills.

May 18, 2015: The Rolling Stones resume tour rehearsals after a day off. Their Twitter account
runs answers from the group members to questions from fans, taped a few days earlier.

Charlie Watts, Ron Wood, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (May 2015): The Stones on Twitter

Q: Charlie, will you ever create your own Twitter account?

Charlie: No.

Q: Do you get butterflies before a show?

Charlie: Always. Always. Even if I played in a bar with 2 people in it, I'd get them. Just sitting on the drums gives me the butterflies.

Q: You gentlemen are better live now than when I saw you in the 80s. Explain yourselves.

Ron: You've got that right! Yeah, we are better live now... After this interview, I'm going to go straight back in and enjoy the next stage of rehearsals that we're in now. And they're fun, believe me. And the music is high quality. It's getting higher - I don't know, we're going to explode one day, I think!

Q: Is there any particular lesser known song that you would love to play live but haven't yet?

Ron: No, I think we're taking care of that on this leg of rehearsals. We're playing things like Sister Morphine... We're digging songs out of archives. We're doing Can't Turn You Loose, which is really fun, and it's really mad and will really set the audience alight... We have such a huge back catalogue that every day a surprise comes up.

Q: If you had to share a room with another member of the band, who would it be?

Ron: Well, Keith and me are like bookends. We can live in a cupboard together, if we had to.

Q: What's your secret in keeping your voice so strong after all this time?

Mick: Practice!... There is a regimen. So you do a warm-up before the show. And then before the whole tour starts, I do a month of practising. So every day I have to do a warm-up. And then, after a couple of weeks of that, I do karaoke. But not in a smoke-filled room!

Q: Do you still get pre-gig nerves?

Mick: I don't really get nervous. I get excited. And before the first show of a tour, I can get anxious, because a lot of things can go wrong, not all of them me... But I'm not really nervous. I get excited. And I get a bit overenthusiastic at times and full of adrenaline. And you've got to watch out for that (laughs)... So you've got to control the adrenaline rush, which is quite difficult to do.

Q: What is the atmosphere like at the rehearsals?

Keith: As you can see, it's great. It's been amazing from Day One, about a week ago. I always expect rehearsals, the first or three days, to be a bit crinky, until the juices start to flow. But this one's been going great, everybody's happy.

Q: If you could talk to your 20-year-old selves, what would you tell them?

Keith: (laughs) I would have said: get ready for a pretty fast ride!

Q: Any comment on the music, life and times of  B. B. King?

Keith: Sad loss, man, just found out. One of the greats, beautiful style. B. B. was a great guy, he was one of the true gentlemen. And I shall miss him a lot. Always had a great time with him when our paths crossed... At least we have his records. And farewell, B. B.

    tribute to B. B. King.

Mick Jagger (May 20, 2015): Onstage, performing Sticky Fingers

How’s it going so far, all right? Blimey, next year we’ll come back and do the whole of Satanic Majesties...

Mick Jagger (May 26, 2015): Preparing for the Sticky Fingers show

We had to revisit tunes that we don't do very often, and we had to make sure they worked really well. We worked quite hard on Sister Morphine and I Got the Blues. They're not actually that easy to do – it's not simple 12-bar stuff.

Keith Richards (May 26, 2015): Stones in the studio again?

Funny you should mention that. Just last week, the word studio popped up while we were rehearsing. I said, Well, let's find a time. I'm ready!

their career. The group includes a mini-set of songs from Sticky Fingers, and Gary Clark Jr.
    guests on Bitch.

Mick Jagger (May 2015): Such excitement, such a rush

I don't think the thrill of (going onstage) ever goes away. It doesn't really diminish as time goes on. It's always a real, huge adrenaline rush every time you walk out there.

Keith Richards (May 26, 2015): After San Diego

Usually, the first two or three shows, the band feels they're not quite on. And sometimes it's the truth. But this one, right out of the gate, it sounds great.

May 27, 2015: The Rolling Stones play an unannounced, private club concert (funded by
investment firm owner Ralph Whitworth) at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, near San Diego,

May 30, 2015: The Rolling Stones perform at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. The band performs a
snippet of Hang on Sloopy, Ohio's officlal song.

Mick Jagger (May 2015): Every show unique

Every night is a different experience, and every show is a different night.  That's why we try to change the set list around, to try to keep things fresh. You don't want to repeat yourself completely. So we're not coming at it like it's just another tour. Every time you get to go out and do something, it IS exciting, because it's never going to happen again.

That night in Columbus in 2015 is never going to happen again. It's never going to be that gig again.

Mick Jagger & Keith Richards (May 26, 2015): Playing stadiums

Mick: Baseball stadiums can be a little bit tricky, because they're so wide. It can be difficult to get the feeling of whether we're reaching the audience or not. You just have to do the best you can.

Keith: Every time you get onstage in a stadium, you go, I forgot how big it was. You can't not be excited when you have that many people in the audience. It's an exchange of adrenaline.

I can hande the show. In the '60s, it was 20 minutes, in and out. Now it's two hours. I don't come off as exhausted as I used to ten years ago, because I've learned to pace a show. I don't think about the physical aspects - I just expect it all to work. I'm blessed physically with stamina. The frame's still holding. I eat the same as I always have. Meat and potatoes, basically, with a nice bit of fish now and again. My wife tries to force more salad down me, but I'd rather take the pill.

July 1, 2015: The Rolling Stones perform at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina. The
group also announces its first ever major exhibition, three years in the making, and the first of its
kind, Exhibitionism, offering a detailed visit into their entire career, and presenting many artefacts
from their personal archives. The exhibition is due to open at the Saatchi Gallery in London,
    England, on April 2016.

The Rolling Stones (June 2015): Exhibitionism

Charlie: We've got an awful lot of stuff, and it was offered to us... It's very important that we get it right. If we're going to give Mick something to worry about, that would be it: it should be right.

Mick: We've been thinking about it actually for quite a long time... It is a kind of look at your career. And I think it's kind of an interesting time to do it. We've got enough stuff - in fact, too much stuff!... I think we've been pretty hands on in this. We've looked at lots of proposals, ways of presenting these things, what things can be presented... And we've changed a lot of the ideas that were originally presented - substituted them with ours. So it's been pretty hands-on and we've had a lot of input, so I think that's good.

Ron: We put it our little offerings (to the organizers) of directions and questions: "Why? Wouldn't the audience want more of an interaction? Wouldn't the people want to come in and feel things? Make it more tactile."

Keith: There's some incredibly interesting things that go along with the Rolling Stones, and it's not actually the members themselves. All of the bits and pieces, and technology, and instruments and stuff - the things that have passed through your hands in that time. Very interesting - at least to me, because half of them are stolen! (laughs)

The Rolling Stones (June 2015): A retrospective... and the Stones' future

Mick: I don't think it means to say it's all over just because you're doing a retrospective exhibition. I think we're still working and still doing shows and we'll continue to do so.

Charlie: It would be a lovely way (to end) if it was. But I have a feeling (laughs) it won't be.

Ron: This is another insight into an ongoing machine, and institution, that will never stop rumbling. You know, who knows? We didn't get this museum idea with the thought of retirement. No. It's just another input into the traveling circus.

Keith: If anybody should be interested in when we're going to quit, it should be the Stones (laughs). And they're not particularly interested in that.

July 3, 2015: The Rolling Stones arrive in Indianapolis, Indiana.

July 4, 2015: The Rolling Stones perform at the enormous Motor Speedway in Indianapolis.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Tripping face-forward in Indianapolis

Somebody tossed a red straw boater hat, and it landed right in front of my feet. I kicked it aside - All right, that's out of the way - and it fucking bounced back in front of me, and I hit the floor. And suddenly, I'm on my hands and knees in front of 60 000 people, you know? My bracelet came off from the shock. It was, OK, get out of this one, pal! I might've cracked a rib. There's nothing doctors can do about it. I thought, Shit, if I let them know how much I'm hurting, the doctors and the insurance companies will be like, Cancel the next gig. Fuck it. I'll live with it. After 50 years on the stage, you're going to fall over occasionally and take a knock.

released in September. Arriving in Buffalo, New York, Mick Jagger has dinner at
        Ristorante Lombardo.

Keith Richards (July 2015): Crosseyed Heart

I had a ball making this new record and working with Steve Jordan and Waddy Wachtel again. There's nothing like walking into a studio and having absolutely no idea what you’re going to come out with on the other end. If you're looking for Trouble, you've come to the right place.

July 10, 2015: Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts visit the historical Darwin D. Martin House,
designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, in Buffalo, New York. Ron and Sally Wood visit Niagara
        Falls.

July 11, 2015: The Rolling Stones perform at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo, New York.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Playing with sober Ronnie

Well, me and Ronnie always have a laugh, whenever and whereever. When he said, I'm straightening up, I said, That will be an interesting experiment, Ron... (laughs) And he's kept at it, right up until this point. And the thing is, he's exactly the same as he was when stoned out of his mind! You didn't need to take all that shit, man! You're hilarious anyway. The guy has got a lot of optimistic energy. Now he's remarried, too - it's very lucky for him that another woman would take him on! (laughs) I love playing with him, and he's been knocking me out. (Mock annoyed): He's been listening and practising.

July 12, 2015: The Rolling Stones arrive in Montreal, Canada.

July 15, 2015: The Rolling Stones end their Zip Code Tour by performing at Le Festival d'été de
    Québec
in Quebec City, in front of 102 000 fans.

Keith Richards (August-September 2015): The Zip Code Tour

It was just fun to get out there where, in historical terms, all the music came from. We had an incredible welcome everywhere. Enormous crowds and great appreciation. I'm really still reeling from it a  little bit, because I've never known a tour to go so sweet and beyond expectations. And the band is playing probably the best that it ever has, surprisingly enough, after all these years. As I said to Charlie, I think we're getting the hang of it.

Ron Wood (August 2015): The Faces reunion gig

Getting back on stage with the lads playing Stay with Me and other favourites will be a blast and will make this a very special night. Being in The Faces was a mad and brilliant time for all of us and although we don’t have Ronnie and Mac with us anymore this is our chance to remember them and say Had Me a Real Good Time.

August 5-6, 2015: Keith Richards is at Drive-In Studio in New York City.

Keith Richards (August 2015): The next Stones album

(Will we record another album and tour again?) In truth, the answer to all of that is yes. I think we will. We’ll do this year, then go into the studio. I know Mick wants to record again – he blurted it out in a meeting: It’s about time we went back and recorded. I was like, We’re here to talk about a tour, right? So that will be interesting. End of the year.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Being a grandfather

It's not the first thing you think of in life: I wonder what I'll be like as a grandfather? But once it happens, there's a certain relationship, that distance between parent and grandparent, which sometimes can be very, very useful and inspiring. A couple of my grandsons, all they want to do is go on the road with me now (laughs). Well, maybe this isn't the best idea... (Orson) likes to hang with me, but he's got to go to school still. So I play Scrabble with him, on my computer. It's the only thing I use the thing for. I give him the worst words I can think of: shithead, asshole.

August 17, 2015: Ron Wood jams at his home in London.

Keith Richards (August 2015): The Rolling Stones in 2016: On tour - and in the studio?

My favorite dream is to get the Rolling Stones off of a tour and straight into the studio. It'll probably never happen, but I can hear the band that tight, when it's really honed and toned and all the screws are in the right place. A lot of the earlier records we made were in between tours. We'd come straight off the road and go straight into the studio, which is why some of those records have so much bounce and hit on them - the energy.

We're playing South America in February and March, and I would like to get in the studio around April or May next year. It's been too long. They need to record. I can feel something in my bones saying we have to record. And maybe this (solo album) will be a little kick up the arse.

Keith Richards (August-September 2015):  I got nasty habits

(Regarding alcohol,) I like to keep my hand in! (laughs) Other than that, I'm pretty straight these days... All drugs are different and, yes, I would say I got a whole lot out of cocaine; I got more out of it than it took out of me. It made me concentrate more - I'd stay up four or five days. In that time, other people had changed their clothes, they'd shaved, they'd gone to work and come back. I found it's something not to recommend - you're not going to make any better rmusic out of it. But you're certainly not going to make any worse. Sometimes I've chased songs for four or five days until I got it right...

I still smoke a lot, too, and not just cigarettes (laughs)... I smoke regularly, an early morning joint. Strictly Californian... (Pot is) just a lift. It gives you a slightly different perception of your surroundings. To me, pot is just fun. And I'm glad to see the rest of the country is coming around to my way of seeing things.

Keith Richards (August 2015): The Stones at 70

We didn't just do it to get a few hit records and be famous and blah blah blah, 'cause sometimes that's a curse. We're doing what we feel we're good at, and in order to be heard. I don't think there should be any time limit on that. I'm still growing up.

Ron Wood's book, How Can It Be? A Rock & Roll Diary, written in 1965 when a member
of his early group The Birds, is released.

Ron Wood (September 2015): Sweet little rock and roller

It's the diary of a 17-year-old rock and roller. I used to keep a diary quite diligently, but I'd lost it until recently and forgotten all the details, until I went back through and it all came flooding back.

September 9-10, 2015: Keith Richards does interviews at the Savoy Hotel in London to
promote his upcoming solo album. Ron Wood is also interviewed on UK TV.

Keith Richards (September 2015): Stones agree to record a new album

Actually, I was in London last week and the boys and I got together. And, yeah, there are now definite plans to record... (A new album) looks closer. Don't know where, don't know when yet. We had a little chat. We were just saying, 'We've got to get in the studio right?' 'Right.' 'That’s agreed.' 'Okay, boys, that’s agreed.' Where, when – (we) scratch our heads.

I would say off the top of my head after the South American tour in February. But you never know. We might try to get into the studio before Christmas. I think that’s sort of doubtful, with Christmas being Christmas, all that buildup. But at the same time, it’s definitely in the works.

(The Stones are) going to get in the studio, which was one of my aims really of doing this one. (It) was, Hey, Rolling Stones, you haven't been in the studio for 11 years... It's time to get in the studio.

(A)t least they've decided Yes. I think they've been a bit scared of getting in the studio together. Well, we're going to see what comes out of that because after this amount of time off there's obviously going to be some rust to knock off, but at the same time, we've been working a lot on the road. The band is hot. I think hotter than I've actually ever heard them, and I think given the right material and everything, I hope they get them in the studio sometime within the - I don't want to give any dates - but in the near future.

September 17, 2015: Keith Richards appears at the Toronto International Film Festival in
Toronto, Canada, for the premiere of the Morgan Neville-directed documentary Keith
        Richards: Under the Influence
, about his musical influences.

Keith Richards (September 17, 2015): Under the Influence

(The documentary) wasn’t planned. I didn’t see the point at that particular time, I was busy making a record. Once I got talking to Morgan and he had shot a few things, by then things had taken over, which was the same way with this record. Suddenly you realize this thing is bigger than both of you, and you've got to finish it.

Keith Richards (September 17, 2015): The family Stones

I always think that maybe this thing has all got to do with: Do you meet the right people to play with? That that is the essence of a band. You can have a million virtuosi out there but unless they can work together and put their energies together – that’s the difficult thing. For me, it’s a miracle. I got lucky at first go. I got Charlie Watts and Mick Jagger (laughs) and you can’t go wrong with material like that. But I also realize it is the chemistry amongst people playing together that makes the music probably far more important than anything one can do by one’s self. And so it’s got to do with community too. It’s got to do with friendship. And it’s got to do with living with each other. It’s kind of like weird family life and no babies.

September 18, 2015: Keith Richards' third solo album, Crosseyed Heart,
is released on Mindless Records. From New York City, he appears on US
TV's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Keith Richards (August-September 2015): Making an album without trying to

I didn’t intend to make an album; I just wanted to cut a few tracks. You know sometimes you get into something and you realize that this thing is bigger than both of you. Organically I suppose is the word. It’s a very cute word but in a way it did happen like that. It sort of grew all by itself, the record and Under The Influence... It organically grew like in a green house and I’m not going to tell you what grows in there... What I loved about making it was there was no deadline. This record we just made it until we felt happy with it.

I was at sort of a loose end, and I realized there is one thing missing out of my life, the most importang thing: recording. I made the first two because the Stones were in one of their hibernations - and basically, I probably made this one because the Stones were in hibernation at the time.

It's funny because there's one part of me saying, You're being disloyal! Then you got the other Stones thinking, You're crazy, why do you need to go out and do that? And I didn't really need to do it, I just enjoyed doing it. It's an interesting way to work, just me and Steve (Jordan), which makes it fairly cheap.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Stones songs or Keith songs

I just write songs. If the Stones were ready to record around the same time... Some of them were actually hanging around, ideas from while the Stones were still recording. We left certain things off, and I thought, I want to pursue that one... From my point of view, any of these songs could just as well have been Stones songs - if (the others) had been around at the time to record them. It's just what I had available in my locker.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Putting the album out now

The record's been finished for about a year, but the Stones go back into work. Oh, right. We've been holding it back and finding the right space to put it out. But the Stones won't be working again until next year. So I do have this space to do something on my own without anybody getting their feathers ruffled.

September 24, 2015: Ron Wood attends the Pelé: Art, Life, Football exhibition launch at the
        Halcyon Gallery in London, England.

September 26, 2015: Mick Jagger joins Taylor Swift onstage at the Bridgestone Arena in
Nashville, Tennestee, to duet on Satisfaction.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Possibilities of solo concerts

Originally I didn't (foresee any shows), because the Stones were supposed to go to South America next month. I didn't see any space, but the Stones has been put back to February or something. Suddenly I do find this extra space of time, so I've been talking to Steve Jordan - 'cause I couldn't do it without him, man. But let's say without saying Yes, I'm looking forward to trying to put it together. If I can get the guys all together in the right plae, I might do a couple of shows. It's hard work doing all the singing and playing guitar at the same time, you know. But if I think I can pull it off, I'll give it a bash... I haven't done it for 20-odd years: fronting a band. So I have to think about that. The idea is appealing. So if things come together, maybe it'll happen. I'd love to do that.

Keith Richards (August 2015): A backlog of songs for the Stones

There was always a backlog of songs and ideas. Most of those I have, I'm hoping to get the Stones in the studio with. Me? I'd put them in the studio in December, but I know they ain't going to go for that. It's too near Christmas.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Talking with Mick about playing harmonica and singing

Well, I'll tell you, Mick and I have had many conversations, but the one that sticks out to me is... I think Mick Jagger is probably the best blues harp player that I've heard. I think he's better than Junior Wells. I think he's up there with Little Walter. He amazes me. So we have this conversation: You phrase like that - why don't you try to sing more like that? And Mick would say, It's two totally different things! And my reply is, It's just blowing air out of your mouth - I don't get the difference. When he's singing, he tends to phrase pretty much the same way as the record goes. Whereas on harp, he'll let it fly. I'll always wonder if I'll find that little key to open and let the voice fly like the harp does. That's basically what we talk about and probably our bone of contention (laughs).

Keith Richards (August 2015): The Twins in 2015

I think the relationshipp (between Mick and I) is actually still in flux, or still growing - it isn't fixed. Sometimes he can get up my end, and I have no doubt that I can certainly piss him off sometimes. At the same time, there's a chemistry between us that we both recognize and that we know works. In a way, we're both trying to come to terms with each other. Most guys, you know where you stand with. Mick and I don't quite know how we stand with each other, and we never have.

September 30, 2015: Ron Wood plays onstage with James Bay at the Brixton Academy in

October 3, 2015: Ron Wood gives a talk about his new book at the Times Forum at the
Cheltenham Literary Festival in Cheltenham, England.

Ron Wood (September 2015): From a Bird to a Stone

I always knew, even when I was in The Birds, that I was going to be in the Rolling Stones. I was going to be in that band one way or another and I would broadcast the fact. I thought it looked like a good job and it turned out that it is. It goes to show you can set your sights on something and get it, if you think big and put in the work.

Keith Richards (August 2015): Touring the U.S. again soon?

It wouldn't surprise me at all. Up to now, I've gotten as far as South America at the beginning of next year, and I know up to then. But after that, who knows? See how the boys feel.

Keith Richards (September 2015): Realizing the Stones' potential

Well, I'm not sure I'd say mission accomplished yet. But I'm very comfortable playing with the Stones at this end of the spectrum, you know? It's still a turn-on, and the energy is still there with them. This band surprises me on and on, you know? I don't know how long they'll bloody well last, but I'll be there till the end.

I do feel the Rolling Stones are still sort of finding themselves (laughs) in a way. A lot of excitement in the band... As I say, you think you've peaked somewhere - but as a band, musically, and within the band, I think there's a feeling of  "there's more in there yet". There's more to find out about the music and about the Rolling Stones. And probably about ourselves. And so you're sort of driven to do it, you know. I mean, who wants to jump out of a moving bus, man?

Mick Jagger (Early December 2015): Exhibitionism 2016

No. (It's) not (making me feel emotional about the past) and this for me hasn't been a personal indulgence. It's about trying to work out something that would be an incredible experience. I'm thinking about it in a different way. When it finally gets it and it's happening I might feel emotional then... I don't know. I've always been what now, what next - that's what keeps you moving.

It's the right time. People are doing these things, great events whether it's Björk or that incredible Human Body exhibition. This is not about veneration. That's never what the Stones have been about. We're not gods - some of this is about the piss out of ourselves.

Mick Jagger (Early December 2015): Wearing L'Wren Scott-designed stage clothes

I'm still wearing L'Wren's ones. L'Wren still has a huge influence on my style, on me. Her clothes are very emotional for me. There is a big emotional pull. That's important to say.

Mick Jagger (Early December 2015): Stones in the studio in December

Yes, (Exhibitionism is) about the past but i's about the present and it's about what we're going to be doing next - we're not stopping. We're booking studio time for recording this month, we're still on the road.
